All accepted abstracts will be published in the abstract book, which will be part of the Congress bag.

Accommodation and Tours
Vertours DMC is the local Italian partner and is holding a wide range of accommodation throughout Verona and surrounding areas at special rates. In addition Vertours DMC offers tours that will give more than just an overview of all that Verona and Italy have to offer. If you need to reserve a hotel room, if you have any problems with your reservation and for any information regarding Verona, tours, maps, local attractions, restaurants and other cultural activities, please visit the Tours Desk which will be in the registration area. Vertours will have an Accommodation/Tours desk in the registration area of the Palazzo della Gran Guardia.

Banking Facilities
Banks in Verona are open Monday to Friday from 8.20 to 13.20 and from 14.40 to 16.00. All banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) can be found all around Verona and there are several ATM’s located in Piazza Bra, just outside the Palazzo della Gran Guardia.

Car Parking near the Palazzo della Gran Guardia
There are many parking facilities near the Congress venue. The closer ones are located in Corso Porta Nuova and Piazza Cittadella.

Certificate of Attendance

You will obtain your Certificate of Attendance on-site at the registration counter when handing in the completed questionnaire which will be in your Congress bag.

Congress Bag

The Congress bag, containing the Congress material, will be handed out at the registration counter on-site.

CME (Continued Medical Education)

The K.I.T. GmbH & Co. KG is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.

The “6th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health & 1st Mediterranean Conference on Migration and Travel Health” is designated for a
maximum of 21 hours of European external CME credits.

Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. In order to obtain your CME credits you must complete and hand in the questionnaire which is found in your Congress bag. EACCME credits are recognized by the American Medical Association towards the Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA).
To convert EACCME credit to AMA PRA category 1 credit, contact the AMA www.accme.org.

Coat check, luggage and Poster Storage
There is a coat check located in the basement of the Palazzo della Gran Guardia.

Coffee breaks
Coffee will be served in various areas of the Congress venue:
- exhibition
- terrace behind Room 7
- first floor
- registration area

The schedules are as following:
Morning 11.00 – 11.30
Afternoon 16.00 – 16.30

Currency
Italy's unit of currency is the Euro (1 Euro =100 Cents).
Coins of 1, 2 and 5 centimes are copper-coloured; coins of 10, 20 and 50 centimes are gold-coloured. Euro notes com in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500. Credit cards are widely accepted.

Getting to and from Verona
Verona-Villafranca airport, located just outside the city (10 minutes from Porta Nuova railway station) is reachable via local buses. City buses for the airport depart from Porta Nuova. The airport has mainly domestic flights, although there are an ever-increasing number of international arrivals from other European countries.
Some major European hubs (such as Rome, Paris, Munich, Frankfurt and other) are connected with Verona with direct flights.
Verona has also easy train links with Milan (about one and a half hours) and Venice (one and a half hours); other airports nearby are within easy reach by train or car.

Insurance and Liability
The Congress Organiser can not accept liability for personal injury, loss of or damage to belongings of Congress participants, either during or as a result of the Congress. Please check the validity of your own insurance.

Internet Facilities
Internet Facilities are available at the Internet Café located in the exhibition area.

Language

The official Congress language is English.

Letter of Invitation
Individuals requiring an official Letter of Invitation in order to obtain a visa and authorisation to attend the Congress, should contact the Congress Organiser, K.I.T. GmbH & Co. KG:

The Letter of Invitation does not financially obligate the Congress Organisers in any way. All expenses incurred in relation to the Congress are the sole responsibility of the participant.

Name Badge
A badge is required for admission to all official Congress sessions, the exhibition and poster area, the Opening Ceremony and Closing Session.
Each participant is asked to present the badge in order to gain access to the Congress. The badge must be clearly displayed at all times. A handling fee of EUR 30.00 will be charged for every name change to an existing congress registration and EUR 60.00 in case of a lost badge.

Meals and Snacks
Meals, snacks and beverages are available in the various restaurants in the vicinity of the Congress venue.

Messages
There will be a message board for Congress participants next to the Registration Area.

Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony on Sunday, 6 September 2008 will take place from 17:30 to 19:30.

Passport and Visa Requirements
Delegates from countries within the European Union will need a valid passport or ID to travel to Italy.
All other delegates should contact the nearest Italian embassy or consulate for visa details.

Programme Changes
The organisers cannot assume liability for any changes in the programme due to external or unforeseen circumstances.

Smoking Policy
Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the Congress venue.
Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.

Speaker Preview Room
The speakers’ secretariat at the 6th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health will provide facilities for:
• reviewing your PowerPoint presentation
• making last minute alterations to your PowerPoint presentation
• receiving expert advice from the technical staff

To enable the staff to handle the technical aspects in an adequate way the presentations should be prepared according to the guidelines below. It is essential that:
• the correct format is used
• the slides need to be handed in on time at the speaker’s secretariat no later than four (4)-hours before your presentation.

The speakers’ secretariat is located on the ground floor.

Taxis
Taxis are white and can be recognised by the plates with digits and the taxi sign on top of the roof.
Taxis take you to any desired destination, the charge must be paid in cash.

The maximum rate for four passengers is compounded as follows:
• A call charge of 1.00 EUR and the amount of 0.91/km EUR.
• The minimum charge is 3.62 EUR.
• If you keep a taxi waiting, an amount of 24.17 EUR per hour will be charged.

Toilets
When outside the Congress venue, Congress participants are entitled to use the public toilets in Piazza Bra (just opposite the entrance of the Gran Guardia) for free, provided they show their Congress badge.

Translation (in the Auditorium only)

Simultaneous translation from English to Italian and Italian to English will be provided at the following sessions that will take place at the Auditorium.
Headsets will be available at a special desk close to the entrance to the Auditorium.
